Will it suit your car and home?

The quick answer on cars, solar and batteries, and the power supply the Ocular LTE Plus needs.

Your car

  • Every new EV sold in Australia uses a Type 2 plug, so this charger suits Tesla, BYD, MG, Kia, Hyundai, Polestar, Volvo, BMW and the rest.
  • Tethered 6 m Type 2 cable. A universal socket version is also made.

Solar and batteries

  • No automatic solar matching. You can schedule charging for sunny hours in the app, but it won’t follow your panels’ output.
  • If charging from spare solar matters to you, the Evnex E2 Core or the Zappi is the better fit.
  • No home battery integration.

Your power supply

  • 7 kW single-phase and 22 kW three-phase versions.
  • No automatic home overload protection. The charging current is adjustable from 6 A to 32 A, and we set it to suit your supply at install.
  • Bluetooth app, so there’s no Wi-Fi to worry about. Control works when your phone is nearby.

*Range per hour is the maker’s own figure. Your car sets the real speed: many EVs accept 7 kW or 11 kW on AC, so a 22 kW charger only charges at 22 kW if your car can take it.

How we install it

Fitted properly, tested, and signed off

Whatever charger you choose, the install standard is the same. Here’s what’s included as standard:

  • Dedicated circuit with its own 32 A Type A RCBO and isolator in the switchboard
  • Wired on its own dedicated 6 mm² circuit (minimum), sized to suit your charger
  • Tested with a calibrated EV simulator, never plugged into your car
  • CCEW lodged through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal, board and isolator labelled, full AS/NZS 3000 testing
  • Fixed price on the signed quote, no callout fee, backed by our lifetime workmanship guarantee

The Ocular LTE Plus connects to your phone by Bluetooth, so there’s no Wi-Fi signal to check before we quote.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Does it need Wi-Fi?

No. The Ocular LTE Plus uses the EVSE Master app over Bluetooth, so you control it when your phone is nearby. There’s no Wi-Fi signal to check.

Can it charge from my solar?

Not automatically. You can schedule charging for sunny hours, but it won’t follow your panels’ output. If solar charging matters, the Evnex E2 Core or the Zappi is the better fit.

Does it have home overload protection?

Not automatic protection. The charging current is adjustable from 6 A to 32 A, and we set it to suit your home’s supply at install.

What does the screen show?

The 3.5-inch colour screen shows each charge live: charging time, voltage, current and the charger’s internal temperature.

Will the Ocular LTE Plus charge my car?

Almost certainly. Every new EV sold in Australia uses a Type 2 plug. If you drive an older Japanese import with a Type 1 plug, tell us the model and we’ll check which charger and cable you need.

How do you test the charger?

With a calibrated EV simulator. It loads the charger under real charging and fault conditions. We never plug into your car to test. We also do full AS/NZS 3000 testing and lodge the CCEW through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal.

What warranty do I get?

Ocular covers the charger with a 3-year warranty for home installs. On top of that, our workmanship is guaranteed for life.

How much does the Ocular LTE Plus cost to install?

Every home is different: the distance from your switchboard, the wall, and whether the board needs work all change the job. We give you a free, fixed price on a written quote, with no callout fee. What’s on the quote is what you pay.
