The charger

Evnex E2 Plus

The E2 Plus takes everything good about the Core and adds flexibility. It’s a 7.4 kW single-phase smart charger with an extra-long 8 metre cable, so it reaches further around the car and the driveway.

It switches automatically between 4G and Wi-Fi so it stays connected wherever it’s mounted, includes solar export diversion, and adds Tesla integration — open your Tesla’s charge port from the charger and see its state of charge in your reporting. NZ-made, four-year Evnex warranty, lifetime EES workmanship guarantee. Comes in Snow, Sand, Stone and Volcanic.

Features

What makes it good

4G and Wi-Fi

Automatic switching between 4G and Wi-Fi keeps you — and Evnex support — connected no matter where it’s mounted. No ongoing SIM cost.

Solar export diversion

Send your surplus solar into the car instead of exporting it, or top up from the grid when you need to.

Tesla integration

Open your Tesla’s charge port straight from the charger, and see its state of charge in your session reporting.

In the app

Control it from your phone

Every Evnex charger comes with the Evnex app. Set a schedule so the car fills up on the cheapest power overnight, follow a live charge from your phone, and see exactly what each session cost and where the power came from. If it ever needs a hand, Evnex can support the charger remotely.

Will it suit your car and home?

The quick answer on cars, solar and batteries, and the power supply the E2 Plus needs.

Your car

  • Every new EV sold in Australia uses a Type 2 plug, so this charger suits Tesla, BYD, MG, Kia, Hyundai, Polestar, Volvo, BMW and the rest.
  • Tesla owners get extra tricks: it can open the charge port and show the car’s charge level.
  • The 8 m cable reaches the charge port wherever you park, nose in or reversed in.

Solar and batteries

  • Solar export diversion built in, so it charges from the surplus you’d otherwise send to the grid.
  • Evnex says it works with all solar setups, whatever your panels and inverter.
  • Works with home batteries through the app settings.

Your power supply

  • Single-phase homes.
  • Built-in 4G, so it stays connected where your Wi-Fi drops out. The 4G costs nothing to run for the life of the charger.
  • Needs its own circuit and a 32 A Type A RCBO. Home overload protection is built in.

*Range per hour is the maker’s own figure. Your car sets the real speed: many EVs accept 7 kW or 11 kW on AC, so a 22 kW charger only charges at 22 kW if your car can take it.

How we install it

Fitted properly, tested, and signed off

Whatever charger you choose, the install standard is the same. Here’s what’s included as standard:

Evnex Certified Installer

We're an Evnex Certified Installer. We fit the Evnex range every week and know it inside out — set up, tested and registered to the app properly, the first time.

  • Dedicated circuit with its own 32 A Type A RCBO and isolator in the switchboard
  • Wired on its own dedicated 6 mm² circuit (minimum), sized to suit your charger
  • Tested with a calibrated EV simulator, never plugged into your car
  • CCEW lodged through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal, board and isolator labelled, full AS/NZS 3000 testing
  • Fixed price on the signed quote, no callout fee, backed by our lifetime workmanship guarantee

Before we lock in your quote we confirm your home Wi-Fi reaches the charger. If it doesn’t, we quote the 4G-capable model separately — decided upfront, never swapped on install day.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Why would I need 4G?

If your Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the garage or driveway, the E2 Plus switches to 4G and stays connected. The 4G costs nothing to run for the life of the charger, so there’s no plan to sign up for.

What does the Tesla integration do?

It can open your Tesla’s charge port and show the car’s charge level in the Evnex app.

Is the 8 m cable worth it?

If you park more than a few metres from the wall, park two cars, or reverse in some days and drive in on others, the extra length saves you moving the car.

Which colour should I choose?

It comes in Snow, Sand, Stone and Volcanic. Snow is for indoor use only, as direct sun can discolour it over time.

Will the E2 Plus charge my car?

Almost certainly. Every new EV sold in Australia uses a Type 2 plug. If you drive an older Japanese import with a Type 1 plug, tell us the model and we’ll check which charger and cable you need.

Will I need a switchboard upgrade?

Not always. The charger needs its own circuit with a 32 A Type A RCBO. If your board is old, full or can’t safely take it, we’ll tell you before you book and put the work on your quote. No surprises on the day.

How do you test the charger?

With a calibrated EV simulator. It loads the charger under real charging and fault conditions. We never plug into your car to test. We also do full AS/NZS 3000 testing and lodge the CCEW through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal.

What warranty do I get?

Evnex covers the charger with a 4-year warranty for home installs. On top of that, our workmanship is guaranteed for life.

How much does the E2 Plus cost to install?

Every home is different: the distance from your switchboard, the wall, and whether the board needs work all change the job. We give you a free, fixed price on a written quote, with no callout fee. What’s on the quote is what you pay.
