The charger

Evnex X22

The X22 turns a three-phase connection into serious charging power — up to 22 kW, taking an EV from 20% to 100% in about four hours. With phase switching it can also run on single-phase power when it needs to, so it adapts to your home and your solar.

It stays connected over 4G, Wi-Fi or Ethernet, has home overload protection and load balancing for multiple chargers, and offers a socket option with optional RFID access control. NZ-made, four-year Evnex warranty, lifetime EES workmanship guarantee.

What makes it good

Up to 10x faster

22 kW three-phase charging takes your EV from 20% to 100% in around four hours — up to 120 km of range per hour.

Three-phase solar smarts

Phase switching means your solar charging suits any incoming setup, single or three-phase.

Built for the weather

UV-resistant and rated to run from -25°C to 55°C, with overload protection and load balancing between chargers.

In the app

Control it from your phone

Every Evnex charger comes with the Evnex app. Set a schedule so the car fills up on the cheapest power overnight, follow a live charge from your phone, and see exactly what each session cost and where the power came from. If it ever needs a hand, Evnex can support the charger remotely.

Will it suit your car and home?

The quick answer on cars, solar and batteries, and the power supply the X22 needs.

Your car

  • Every new EV sold in Australia uses a Type 2 plug, so this charger suits Tesla, BYD, MG, Kia, Hyundai, Polestar, Volvo, BMW and the rest.
  • Your car sets the speed. Many EVs accept 7 kW or 11 kW on AC, and only some take the full 22 kW.
  • Socket version available, so you can use a cable of any length, or a Type 1 cable for older imports.

Solar and batteries

  • Solar charging built in. It looks at the spare solar across all three phases before deciding how fast to charge.
  • Phase switching lets it drop to one phase when there isn’t much sun, so it can still charge on less solar.
  • Works with home batteries through the app settings.

Your power supply

  • Made for three-phase homes. It can also run on one or two phases.
  • Needs three-phase supply and enough room at the switchboard. We check both on site before we quote.
  • Home overload protection built in, plus load balancing if you run more than one charger (over Ethernet).

*Range per hour is the maker’s own figure. Your car sets the real speed: many EVs accept 7 kW or 11 kW on AC, so a 22 kW charger only charges at 22 kW if your car can take it.

How we install it

Fitted properly, tested, and signed off

Whatever charger you choose, the install standard is the same. Here’s what’s included as standard:

Evnex Certified Installer

We're an Evnex Certified Installer. We fit the Evnex range every week and know it inside out — set up, tested and registered to the app properly, the first time.

  • Dedicated circuit with its own 32 A Type A RCBO and isolator in the switchboard
  • Wired on its own dedicated 6 mm² circuit (minimum), sized to suit your charger
  • Tested with a calibrated EV simulator, never plugged into your car
  • CCEW lodged through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal, board and isolator labelled, full AS/NZS 3000 testing
  • Fixed price on the signed quote, no callout fee, backed by our lifetime workmanship guarantee

Before we lock in your quote we confirm your home Wi-Fi reaches the charger. If it doesn’t, we quote the 4G-capable model separately — decided upfront, never swapped on install day.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Do I need three-phase power?

For the full 22 kW, yes. The X22 can also run on one or two phases. We check your supply and your switchboard on site before we quote.

Will my car charge at 22 kW?

Only if the car can take it. The car’s onboard charger sets the limit, and many EVs accept 7 kW or 11 kW on AC. The charger delivers whatever your car can accept, so tell us your car and we’ll say what speed to expect.

Tethered or socket: which should I get?

Tethered has the cable fixed on, so you just plug in. The socket version lets you use a Type 2 cable of any length, or a Type 1 cable for an older import.

How does solar charging work on three-phase?

The X22 looks at the spare solar across all three phases before deciding how fast to charge. Phase switching lets it drop to one phase when there’s less sun.

Can I run more than one charger?

Yes. X22 chargers can share the available power between them over Ethernet, so two cars can charge without overloading your supply. Optional RFID cards can control who uses them.

How do you test the charger?

With a calibrated EV simulator. It loads the charger under real charging and fault conditions. We never plug into your car to test. We also do full AS/NZS 3000 testing and lodge the CCEW through the Building Commission NSW eCert portal.

What warranty do I get?

Evnex covers the charger with a 4-year warranty for home installs. On top of that, our workmanship is guaranteed for life.

How much does the X22 cost to install?

Every home is different: the distance from your switchboard, the wall, and whether the board needs work all change the job. We give you a free, fixed price on a written quote, with no callout fee. What’s on the quote is what you pay.
